Project Background:
Mallorca, the largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands, is renowned for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant culture. Today we are going to introduce the seaside villas in Mallorca.
Jiulong has over 20 years of experience in the architectural glass industry, with products mainly sold to international markets. The villa project located on the island of Mallorca is one such example.
Design Process:
The client informed Jiulong that the villa is located by the sea and hoped to use a large amount of glass on the exterior to enhance the overall viewing experience. After understanding the client’s needs, Jiulong recommended using Low-E insulated laminated glass.
Considering that the villa is located in the Mediterranean region, it is often affected by salt spray and strong winds. Additionally, since the island is a popular tourist destination with heavy foot traffic, broken glass could pose a threat to visitors. Therefore, Jiulong recommended using laminated glass. This type of glass has a PVB interlayer, which holds the glass together even when severely shattered, providing excellent safety.
The air layer inside the insulated glass prevents the exchange of indoor and outdoor air, giving the glass excellent thermal insulation and soundproofing properties. The Low-E coating inside the glass effectively reduces the transmission of ultraviolet and infrared rays, improving indoor comfort. This glass also achieves the effect of being able to see the outside from the inside while preventing outsiders from seeing inside, greatly enhancing the villa’s privacy.
The combination of Low-E insulated glass and laminated glass maximizes the effectiveness of the glass, providing a better living experience for the client.
The proper use of glass can greatly enhance the interior space. For the interior of the villa, Jiulong recommended using tempered glass as the main material for doors, windows, and partitions. This type of glass has strong light transmission, allowing for maximum natural light, creating a bright and open indoor environment. It also has good safety performance and is more cost-effective for interior decoration compared to laminated glass.
Both the interior and exterior window and door frames are made of thermal break aluminum, which is airtight and aesthetically pleasing. The client was very satisfied with Jiulong’s proposal and shared pictures after the villa was completed.
